Our main project is the care of children through our ‘Adopt a Child at a Distance’ program. Some of the children live in appalling conditions. In a village about ½ an hour away from the capital, Sarajevo, several families live in shacks with no heat, water, or sewage.
As of May 2016, we are able to provide sponsors for approximately 160 families. Sadly, there are still many children and families on the waiting list. We reach out ‘across the board’ to children in need from all cultural/religious backgrounds. Need is our only criteria.
We visit each family in the program when delivering aid. We believe in spending time with the families, listening to their concerns and trying to offer hope.
Where possible, the children are helped by the donor until they finish their studies. Several children have university grants. Prospective sponsors are able to choose a child after viewing photographs and reading a short account of their situation. The basic cost of sponsoring a child is SFrs. 50 (€33) per month,however all donations are welcome and go towards providing families with necessities such as medicine, food and clothing.
